The girls hockey team of Velammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, has been selected for the national level tournament held in Haryana in November as they bagged the silver medal and secured the second position in the CBSE South Zone Hockey Tournament (under-14 girls) held at Mettupalayam in October. Team members were Ganga Shree G (Class 7), Sarmila S (Class 8), Divyabharathi P (Class 8), Kiran Asini K (Class 8), Yazhini C (Class 8), Saranya K (Class 9), Hema Priya S (Class 6), Bhagaya Sree R U (Class 8), Rupashri C (Class 9), Sathya Priya A (Class 8), Adhirai S (Class 6), Kowsalya S (Class 8), Dhivya Bharathi B (Class 6), Raghavi M (Class 8).
