Betting on cricket: 9 arrested

Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch recently arrested nine persons from the office of a real estate firm at BHEL Layout in R R Nagar for allegedly being involved in illegal betting on the ongoing India-Australia cricket series.

Sleuths of the Central Crime Branch recently arrested nine persons from the office of a real estate firm at BHEL Layout in R R Nagar for allegedly being involved in illegal betting on the ongoing India-Australia cricket series.

Police also seized `90,300 cash and a TV from the suspects.

Police said the suspects were betting on various figures such as number of runs to be scored in an over and whether the runs would be in odd or even numbers.

The nine have been identified as Venkatesh (40), Praveen Kumar (27), Ganesh (22), Kiran (22), Yatishkumar (23), Mahesh (26), Siddaraju (27), Srinivas (28) and Santosh (31).
