Robbers decamp with jewellery

Three men allegedly barged into a house on 5th Main Road, Mangammanapalya, near Madiwala and robbed its occupants of jewellery and `2,000 early Friday morning.

Three men allegedly barged into a house on 5th Main Road, Mangammanapalya, near Madiwala and robbed its occupants of jewellery and `2,000 early Friday morning.

According to police, Sumiya (20) and her husband were sleeping when they were awakened by the sound of knocking. The robbers broke open the door and forced them to part with three rings, a necklace and two bangles.

Falling Hospital Gate Kills Child

A four-year-old boy was killed as a 7-foot-tall gate near the water purifier plant of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital here fell on him on Thursday evening. Ajay, son of Krishna, a labourer living in Jaibhuvaneshwarinagar slum, was playing on the gate when the accident occurred.

Cabbie Held for Pushing Cop

The driver of a taxi was arrested for allegedly pushing a sub-inspector, following an argument during checking of vehicles near Srinagar late on Thursday night.

SI Ganesh Kumar of Hanumanthanagar police station said Nagaraj Rao, who was driving a Tata Safari, refused to give his documents around 11.30 pm. As a quarrel ensued, Rao allegedly verbally abused the SI and pushed him. Rao was arrested after a case was filed under section 353 of the IPC.
