Three killed, one injured in accident

Three people were killed on the spot and one was injured when a speeding lorry rammed into a flat bed truck on NH-4 in Nelamangala near Navayuga toll gate on Sunday morning.

Three people were killed on the spot and one was injured when a speeding lorry rammed into a flat bed truck on NH-4 in Nelamangala near Navayuga toll gate on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Nagaraju, 45, Rehamathulla Khan, 49 and  Mohemmed Shabbir, 51, all natives of Davanagere. The injured, Darshan, was rushed to a private hospital. His condition is said to be stable.

The police said the accident occurred around 4.15 am when the lorry was going towards Davanagere after loading goods in Yeshwantpur Market.

The driver, Nagaraju, rammed into a flat bed truck which was carrying a Hitachi excavator as the vehicle  suddenly stopped with out an indication.

Rehamathulla Khan, Mohemmed Shabbir who are said to be lorry owners were sitting next to Nagaraju when the incident occurred. 

Traffic was thrown out of gear for a while and Nelamangala Town police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The police are looking out for the flat bed truck driver.

Auto Driver Robbed

A 29-year-old auto driver was robbed by a group of four men at Nagawara railway gate near Kothanur on Saturday night. Police said the incident took place around 11.30 pm when the complainant Manikantha, a resident of J C Road, was on his way in his autorickshaw. Four men hired it to go to Nagawara. As he reached near the railway gate, the miscreants stabbed him with a sharp weapon and snatched his valuables and `700 cash.
