Velammal Vidhyashram, Surapet, triumphed at its first State Level Basket Ball Tournament – 2013 conducted from October 23-25.
More than 31 schools including PSBB-KK Nagar, RMK, DAV Boys / Girls - Mogappair, TVIS- Panchati and Bhavan’s Rajaji Vidhyashram - Kilpauk participated with more than 500 players across the State.
Chief guest Subbhu Raj, stadium officer, tennis stadium, Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu, gave away prizes to the winners of the tournament.
The boys of Velammal Vidhyashram were the winners of the Rolling Trophy in the boys under-13 category after the final against Velammal Matriculation School, Mugappair.
The top scorer was B Sangam Malla of Class 8 while the best offence player was M Shakthi Class 9.
The girls were the runner up team in the girls under-14 after the final against St Raphael’s School, Santhome. The best player of the tournament was P G Shakthi Saranya of Class 9.
Sangam and Saranya won the ‘Best Player Award Winner’ and Shakthi of Class 9 received the ‘Best Player in Offence Award’.
