The Karnataka State Legal Services Authority has decided to hold a second round of the National Lok Adalat all over the State on April 12.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Chief Justice D H Waghela said access to justice for all was the aim of the Legal Services Authority. He referred to Mahatma Gandhi’s vision to settle disputes through compromise. Waghela explained that the Lok Adalat would be held to dispose of cases in a faster and easier manner.
Noting that there were nearly 12 lakh cases pending in various courts, Waghela said such adalats allowed litigants to arrive at an early settlement. The Chief Justice requested litigants to inform their advocates to take the benefit of such adalats by approaching the District Legal Services Authorities at the district headquarters and taluk legal services committees in every taluk.
The last such Lok Adalat was held on November 23.
