Bus Topples Over, 22 Injured

A wedding trip turned nightmarish for more than 60 people when the bus they were travelling on toppled over at Shanubhoganahalli near Attibele on Sunday morning, leaving 22 passengers injured.

Police officials said the accident occurred around 9.45 am as the bus was heading towards Thattaguppe from Adigondanahalli in Anekal. While negotiating a curve at  Shanubhoganahalli at high speed, the driver reportedly lost control of the bus. However, a major tragedy was averted as he rammed the vehicle into a tree, thereby preventing it from falling into a big ditch. The driver fled from the spot.

The injured were identified as Uday, Vinaykumar, Mythiyas, Hanumanthu, Ravi, Suneetha, Muniyappa, Padma, Thomas, Mahadeva, Ranjith, Latha, Antony, Niksy, Dayanand, Ammaiah, Muniranthnamma, John, Sarojamma, Doriaraju, Prakash, and Pavithra. Vinaykumar, Ravi, Mythiyas and Padma are reported to be in a serious condition.

Bannerghatta police are investigating the accident.
