Unlike heroines, actors cast in lead roles being replaced in the Kannada industry, is rare. But it’s exactly what has happened in the case of Huccha 2. The film, directed by Om Prakash Rao, has new actor Krishna replacing Dhananjay. Explaining his exit from the project, Dhananjay says, “Huccha 2 was a remake of a Tamil film, Ram. Om Prakash thought I fit the bill for the role he was casting me in. Though now, he has postponed its shoot till September. Meanwhile, after he went through the script of Raate in which I have a role, Om thought a follow up of that act with Huccha 2, which releases after Raate, would not suit me. He plans to come up with another script for me. Secondly, I fractured my leg while shooting Vijayaditya and that has delayed my other projects. I will re-start my schedules for of Vijayaditya and Eradensala in the first week of March.”

Krishna, who is just two films old - Madarangi and Nam Duniya, Nam Style - is quite happy to have bagged Om Prakash’s film. “It is really exciting to work with a director who has given big hits and has been lucky for the career of many actors. Doing his film will be good for my resume. I don’t know why Dhananjay opted out of the film, but I was approached for the project three months ago, and an oral confirmation was made. Om is waiting for some green patch, after the monsoon, to start shooting. In the mean time, I will be completing Jolly Days, which has two songs pending after which I will work on Charlie. I have also signed on for a project with director Ram Narayan, who did Snehitaru. Between these, I am have a guest appearance in Rudratandava that stars Chiranjeevi Sarja,” he says.
