Ravi Dubey, Creative Director of META said, “Year after year it amazes me to see the commitment of the theatre community across India to its basic passion - doing theatre. They do it regardless of the material returns or fame and prestige that might or might not come their way. Theatre is being done with gusto, honesty and integrity across this country as a form of self-expression whether sad or happy.”
He added that they have received approximately 40 entries from Karnataka out of the total 300, Girish Karnad’s play being one of them.
“Every year, we receive a number of entries from Karnataka in varied languages. The state has a very active theatre scene,” he said.
The 10 nominated productions will be invited to perform at the LTG and Kamani Auditorium from March 3-8 followed by the awards night which will be hosted on March 9 in New Delhi.
