Rlys Take up Cleanliness Drive

BANGALORE: South Western Railway (SWR) will launch a special cleanliness drive on Gandhi Jayanti as part of a nationwide effort to contribute to the ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The drive, named Shramdaan, will be organised in all railway properties, including stations, tracks, offices and railway colonies. All railway personnel will participate in cleaning up these places and also participate in public awareness programmes.

“More than 13 lakh staff led by Railway Minister D V Sadananda Gowda will take part in this campaign. Union ministers have been requested to participate and lead campaigns at railway stations in their constituencies. Railway board members and 250 officers will visit several stations and participate,” SWR said.

The services of NGOs, schools as well as organisations like the Lions Club and the Rotary Club have also been sought to help make this campaign a success, an official said.

Train Services to be Affected

Due to unloading of rail panels between Nelamanagala and Solur stations, services of the following trains will be affected on Wednesday: Bangalore-Nelamangala Passenger will be partially cancelled between Chikbanavar and Nelamangala and the train will run between Bangalore City and Chikbanavar; Nelamangala-Bangalore City Passenger is partially cancelled between Nelamangala and Chikbanavar and the train will run between Chikbanavar and Bangalore City, stated a South Western Railway (SWR) press release.

Temporary Stoppage

SWR has decided to provided one-minute temporary stoppage at Banavar station for a few trains for the annual Sandal Sharief celebrations with immediate effect The service will be on till Friday.

Accordingly, Shimoga Town-Bangalore City Express will arrive/depart Banavar at 8.22 am/8.23 am; Mysore-Talaguppa Express will arrive/depart at 9.15 am/9.16 am; Dharwad-Bangalore City Intercity Express will arrive/depart at 10.48/10.49 am; Bangalore City-Dharwad Intercity Express will arrive/depart at 4.00 pm /4.01 pm; Bangalore City-Shimoga Town Express will arrive/depart at 6.25 pm /6.26 pm and Talaguppa-Mysore Express will arrive/depart at 6.30 pm /6.31 pm.

Special Train

SWR will operate a special train between Bangalore Cantonment and Nagpur for Deeksha Bhoomi celebrations on Thursday and Friday. Train No.  06569/06570 between Bangalore Cantonment and Nagpur will leave Bangalore at 3.30 pm on Wednesday and reach Nagpur at 6.15 pm the next day. The train will leave Nagpur at 7:50 pm on Saturday and reach Bangalore Cantonment at 8 pm the next day. The train will have stoppages at Renigunta, Vijayawada, Mancherial, Balharshah and Sevagram.
