Man Kills Niece After Wedding Plans Go Awry

BANGALORE: A man killed his sister’s daughter on Tuesday for allegedly helping his estranged wife marry another person.

The deceased has been identified as Latha (25) and Madiwala police have arrested the Ganesh (32). He came to Latha’s house in Garvebavipalya with a plan to take her to his house for Dasara and strangulated her and fled the scene, said police.

Ganesh’s marriage with his sister’s daughter Latha was fixed earlier. However, Latha was in love with another man and she married her lover enraging Ganesh. Ganesh then married Latha’s younger sister Pushpa.

Later Latha had marital problems and left her husband and later married Prakash, a cab driver. 

Ganesh and Pushpa had marital problems too and she left him to live with her elder sister Latha.

Recently Pushpa had started working in a garments factory and she fell in love with one Ramesh and married him.

Ganesh came to know about the incident and thought Latha might have provoked or encouraged Pushpa to marry again.

Ganesh, who was hoping to marry Latha’s youngest sister Asha, was taking care of her educational expenses. However, recently. Latha took Asha to her house and got her married to another person. Ganesh then decided to kill Latha.

He went to Latha’s house on the pretext of inviting her to Dasara festival and strangled her to death by using a pillow. Police said Ganesh telephoned his relatives and informed them about the murder.

The incident came to light at around 11 pm on Tuesday when Prakash returned home. The police were able to nab the accused by tracing his mobile phone.

Man Kills Twins, Ends Life

A 39-year-old welder was found dead on Wednesday after he allegedly strangled his four-year-old twin daughters to death.

According to the Magadi Road police, Kumareshan’s wife of 10 years committed suicide three-and-a-half months ago. She was suffering from stomach and thyroid problems.

Kumareshan was living with his mother Saraswathi and three daughters - Nisa (9), Vijetha and Vedika (both 4). Nisa has been at her aunt’s for a week and was not home when Saraswathi found the three bodies around 10.30 am on Wednesday.

“Ever since his wife’s death, Kumareshan had, on many occasions, expressed a desire to end his life. But his family members consoled him and tried to help him,” a police source said.

Kumareshan is said to have strangled his daughters using a shawl, before hanging himself. In his death note, Kumareshan apologised to his family and friends and held no one responsible.
