MOP Vaishnav Inaugurates 'Kotlerz Klan'

CHENNAI: The marketing management students of MOP Vaishnav College inaugurated ‘Kotlerz Klan’ on Tuesday with the launch of its annual journal Publicite. The theme for the year is ‘branding’ and related activities are planned through the year.

The Indian buyer is fast getting more interested in brands and the markets are opening up wider every day. Retail is a challenging field, and chief guest G Murali, the retail head of Spencers Daily, presented a lecture on ‘Retail-Not a Myth’, where he spoke about the changing Indian consumer. The Indian consumer, he said, is more family oriented, and does an analysis of brands before purchasing. Murali went through the marketing methods that Spencers used in establishing their brand.

“Named after Philip Kotler, the group is in its ninth year and conducts innovative events in college like ‘Mock Mall’ setting up a complete mall with auctioning of space, designing paths and using mock money,” says Mitali Chordia, a team member. This year will also see events like establishing a new product from scratch.
