BANGALORE: The City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday arrested actress Nayana Krishna, who shot to infamy in a honeytrap case involving a city doctor, for allegedly blackmailing and extorting money from another doctor. Preliminary investigation has revealed that she and her associates had also extorted money from an MLA who is not ready to file a complaint.
Police said the doctor, who works with an IT firm and is a resident of Mulki Sunder Ram Shetty Nagar near Bilekahali on Bannerghatta Road, had filed a complaint last Saturday with Mico Layout police. Nayana Krishna, who came to the CCB office for questioning in earlier cases, was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
A senior police officer said the incident took place on June 4 at the doctor’s house. Prime accused Meghana had claimed that her name was Sanjana before sleeping with him.
She filmed the entire episode on a hidden camera and later gave the video to Nayana Krishna, who, along with her associates, approached the doctor to extort money. They also threatened him that the video will be shared with media if he failed to pay up. Krishnappa, another victim, had lodged a complaint against Nayana Krishna’s gang with Wilson Garden police in June. The gang had allegedly extorted money from him in 2011, he added.
The gang, which is facing two more similar cases, had also tried to extort money from an MLA and some other politicians who are not ready to file cases. During interrogation, the accused confessed that they had managed to build contacts with doctors and politicians as they could blackmail them easily, said the police official.
Honeytrap Heroine
The CCB police, along with High Grounds police, had arrested three of the gang — police constable Mallesh, K Hemanth Kumar and Sunil Kumar who were working with a private news channel.
Nayana Krishna, Riya and ‘Gym’ Raghu alias Raghavendra (who had his eyes gouged out by relatives of his former girlfriend for attending her wedding) had allegedly honeytrapped a 68-year-old doctor of a private hospital and were blackmailing him. Raghu and Meghana were arrested later while Nayana got bail from the High Court.
