Notice Issued Over Transfer of ADGP

BANGALORE : The High Court on Thursday issued a notice to the Lokayukta and the state government over a petition filed by freedom fighter H S Doreswamy challenging the transfer of Additional Director-General of Police (Lokayukta), H N S Rao.

A division bench of the Chief Justice also asked the advocate of petitioner Sunil Dutt Yadav to give a personal explanation regarding the allegation over his communication with Rao.

The Advocate General pointed out that after the last hearing, Yadav had written to Rao stating that his relieving order had been kept in abeyance after the developments in the High Court. Rao had in turn written to the Lokayukta on the HC developments.

The court questioned the advocate about such a communication and asked him to submit a detailed explanation.

In his petition, Doreswamy has questioned the government’s act of transferring H N S Rao without consulting the Lokayukta. He has alleged that the state had passed the order on September 12 and posted Prem Shankar Meena in his place.

Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao, who was in Delhi when the order was passed, objected to the transfer as he was not consulted.
