Car Driver Jumps to Death

BANGALORE : A 31-year-old man died after he jumped from the fourth floor of an apartment building in Basavanagudi on Wednesday morning. The deceased has been identified as Girish Babu, a car driver from Hyderabad.

Police said Babu had accompanied his employers to the city for their medical treatment. They had hired a room at a lodge and Babu was sleeping in an open hall along with lodge staff. Around 3.30 am, Babu started shouting Amma Vasthanu... Amma Vasthanu (Mother... I will come) and  rushed to the terrace. The staff woke up and caught him. But he pushed them and reached the fourth floor of the neighbouring apartment on Model House Street. The staff, with the help of security guards tried to rescue him, but he fell down.

 He was rushed to a hospital nearby, where he was declared brought dead.

Basavanagudi police have registered a case and are waiting for his parents to reach the city to know whether he was mentally unstable.

Woman Hangs Self

A woman committed suicide by hanging at her maternal house on Nagarabhavi Road.   The deceased Veena (25)  was married to Padmanabha Achar four years ago. The couple have a two-year-old child. Police said the incident took place late on Tuesday night.  On Wednesday morning, her father Gopalakrishna, a BMTC employee, repeatedly knocked on the door and when there was no response, he broke open the door and found Veena dead.
