BANGALORE: Young legislators cutting across party affiliations have come together to take the lead for a clean and green Bangalore. The forum headed by Congress Shantinagar MLA N A Haris has decided to bring together BBMP, BDA, Education Department, Home Department, Environment Department and Industries Departments to launch an integrated initiative for scientific garbage disposal and increasing green cover.
The initiative, to be launched by Assembly Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa on October 28 at Peenya Industrial Area, would see ward-level committees being setup with active involvement of resident welfare associations, social organisations and interested citizens in drawing up an effective area-wise programme for garbage clearance.
A massive campaign for planting saplings will also be initiated. The entire campaign will get financial assistance from Canara Bank, said Harris.
