BANGALORE: Heavy rain lashed several parts of the city on Monday evening, which brought the traffic to a standstill at many places. However, no casualties or damage were reported.

Rain started at around

6 pm and went on till late night. The city recorded 33.1 mm of rainfall, while the HAL airport received 26.1 mm. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a circulation of air which is causing the rain. It ruled out Cyclone Nilofar, which is set to hit the coast of Gujarat, as the reason. “There will be rain on Tuesday and Wednesday too,” said an official.

When contacted, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials told Express that there have been no casualties or major damage to property.

Apart from one instance  of water logging at a house at Ganesh Layout in Vidyaranyapura, BBMP did not receive any complaints, officials said.
