BANGALORE: A 30-year-old woman hanged herself at her house at Hulimavu on Sunday night, allegedly following dowry harassment.
The deceased is Ashwini, who was married to Pushparaju, a cable operator and former member of Anekal gram panchayat.
The couple have three children.
The police said the incident took place while Pushparaju was asleep. He woke up in the middle of the night and found his wife hanging.
He rushed her to a hospital nearby, where she was declared brought dead.
Subsequently, he abandoned the body and left the hospital.
The staff alerted the police, who managed to nab him.
Ashwini’s father Yallappa has filed a case accusing Pushparaju of having demanded dowry multiple times.
