BANGALORE: The DJ Halli police have registered a case against a 49-year-old man accused by his niece of molesting her.

The woman from Belgaum has filed a complaint accusing her uncle of molesting her thrice — first around 10 years ago when she was in Bangalore, the second time six months ago when he was visiting her in Belgaum, and again on Tuesday evening. Incidentally, the woman’s brother  and the accused’s daughter got married on Wednesday.

According to the police, some family members claim that the complainant did not like the alliance and wanted her brother to marry her husband’s sister. There were frequent fights over this.

“On Tuesday, she came for the wedding and tried to pick a fight. Other family members chided her for doing so on the day before the wedding. There was some pushing and shoving. The complainant claims she was molested by her uncle in the melee. Her mother, however, claims that she scratched herself and went to Bowring Hospital, before filing the complaint,” a police source said.

Although the accused has not filed a counter-complaint, police are looking into the allegations and have filed an FIR.
