BANGALORE: The members of All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) have urged the State government to handover the sexual harassment case, in which Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharati is allegedly involved, to CBI or CID.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, AIDWA’s State Vice-President K S Vimala said there were allegations against the mutt and the seer earlier too. “Seers may try to close such issues,” she said.
“Premalatha Diwakar Shastry, one of the disciples of the mutt, has accused the seer of sexual harassment and the police have refused to register the case, said Vimala.
“When the victim went to register case, the police sought proof. But when the mutt authorities lodged a complaint against them, the police arrested Premalatha and her husband. This is injustice. The entire case should be entrusted to CID or CBI for a fair probe,” she observed.
