BANGALORE: The Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has constituted an inquiry committee which will visit the Sharada School of Architecture in Chikkabettahalli, Vidyaranyapura. Some students had complained to VTU that the college lacks facilities.

“We have received the complaint and it has been referred to an inquiry committee. The team will visit the college and we will take action based on the report,” VTU Registrar K E Prakash told Express.

Meanwhile, the college principal has been accused of throwing students’ mobiles into a bucket of water. According to the Vidyaranyapura police, parents had complained to the school management that although mobile phones were banned from being used in the school campus, students continued to use them.

“The parents demanded to know what the management was doing about it. During a random check through classes on Monday, the Chairman Y N Sharma found three mobile phones. When no one wanted to own up, he threw the phones in a bucket of water,” police said.

After students lodged a complaint at the police station, the chairman promised to repair the phones and return it. A parent-teacher meeting too has been called to discuss the issue, police officials said.
