Panchayat Union Primary School Celebrates Teachers’ Day

On September 5 Panchayat Union Primary School, Vannakkambadi Village, celebrated Teachers’ Day with the distribution of gift hampers containing books and stationery items.

CHENNAI: On September 5 Panchayat Union Primary School, Vannakkambadi Village, celebrated Teachers’ Day with the distribution of gift hampers containing books and stationery items.

Chief guest Subramanian Nagarajan, a retired Office Superintendent of Southern Railway, who has been doing non-reciprocal service for over a decade in the field of education, says, “I believe the most important time in life is now, which is the only time in our command to utilise. This school is going to complete 60 years on January 17, 2015, and celebrate its Diamond Jubilee. If I am alive then (as I am already running 71), will mark that significant occasion. With a proposal to the school authorities to open a ‘School Patron Scheme (Puravalar Thittam)’ to which I intend to contribute Rs 12,000.”

The following gifts were distributed to the students

1. A set of 20 books titled My Pre-School Books to all 14 students who joined in this academic year of 2014-15.

2.A set of books comprising

i. Lifco’s Thirukkural in Tamil with meaning

ii. Lifco’s Dictionary English to English and Tamil

iii.T T K’s Atlas in Tamil                                           

3. A stationery set and a Maxim Card with advice to students and the National Integration Pledge in Tamil.

4. A biography of Dr Radhakrishnan in Tamil to all 48 students from Class 1 to 5.

5. Lifco’s ‘Pirkala Neethi Noolgal, a book of Tamil moral poems with meaning.

6. Thygath Thalaivar by Kamarajar in Tamil.

Eighty-two-year-old retired High School HM D C Narasimhan was the guest of honour at the book distribution function presided over by school headmistress Grace Padmini and attended by many parents and village people.
