Puttanna Threatens Protest to Support Students

BANGALORE: Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Puttanna has demanded the state government to withdraw its decision to bar admission of PU-pass students into undergraduate courses as private candidates.

“Bangalore University’s decision has affected about 25,000 students and would destroy their future. We cannot allow this to happen as other universities too are now mulling to adopt the rule,” Puttanna said.

The decision which has been implemented from the current academic year has affected thousands of poor students who could not pursue their college education due to various reasons and have passed their PU course as private candidates, he said.

He threatened to lead an agitation against the government if it refuses to withdraw the order immediately. “We cannot allow any one to spoil the future of poor students,” he said.
