Woman Commits Suicide Over Money Matter

BANGALORE: A 34-year-old woman committed suicide at her residence after her husband chided her for borrowing money from the neighbours.

Her death came to light when her 14-year-old son woke up at 1 am, only to find his mother’s dead body hanging from the ceiling of their room.

Her husband Ramu (38) was sleeping on the corridor of their home, police officials at Hulimavu said.

According to the police, the victim, Jyothi, and Ramu had a fight when the latter found out that she had borrowed money from her neighbours. He chided her asking how they were going to pay the money back. Depressed, Jyothi committed suicide, they added.

Class 8 Girl Ends Life

A 14-year-old girl committed suicide at her house in Rajagopal Nagar. A daughter of a doctor couple,  Bhoomika ended her life just after returning from school, police said.

She was studying in the Class 8 in a private school. She came back from the school as usual and went to her room. Her parents thought that she might be studying and left her alone. But she was called for dinner, there was no response. Her mother went to check on her and found that the door was locked. Concerned when she did not get any response after knocking at the door a few times, she alerted the neighbours who then broke the door and found Bhoomika’s body hanging from the ceiling. Her parents have no idea about why the girl took the extreme step, the police said.

Man Falls to Death

Monday night’s rains proved to be fatal for a 24-year-old who slipped and fell to his death from an under construction building in High Grounds on Tuesday morning.

Around 9 15 am, Roopkumar Reddy had come to the building to meet his father Roopesh Reddy, who worked as a bartender in the building. Roopkumar was talking to his father when he slipped on the wet floor and fell down. He sustained severe head injuries and broke his neck.

According sources, Roopkumar was unconscious but was breathing when the workers rushed him to Mallige Hospital. However, he died about 15 minutes later. Roopkumar was a construction worker and had come to visit his father before heading to work, said police officials.

While the police have registered a case of unnatural death based on Roopesh Reddy’s statements, no case has been filed against the building owners as the father did not press any charges, said police sources.
