Lokayukta Police Probe Sought

BENGALURU: A complaint has been filed with the Lokayukta police alleging that the contractor of the Suvarna Soudha in Belagavi was paid an excess of Rs 36.73 crore by officials.

In the complaint, Bheemappa Gundappa Gadada, a social worker and RTI activist from Moodalagi village of Gokak taluk in Belagavi, alleged that Rs 269.40 crore was paid to contractors as against the actual payment of Rs 232.67 crore. The excess payment was made to M/S BG Shirke Constructions Technologies Pvt Ltd, he alleged.

“After the misappropriation came to light, a committee headed by G V Krishna Rao was appointed by the Cabinet in July 23, 2014. The committee was asked to look into five irregularities in an order passed on September 16, 2014. However, there was no progress in the probe. I request the Lokayukta police to probe thoroughly and take action against the erring authorities,” he said.
