'Submit Report on Rly Land Dispute Case'

BENGALURU: Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi directed the Joint Director of Land Records (JDLR) to submit a report on the alleged manipulation of land records of the Railways by an enquiry officer.

The order came in connection with a case of Vazeer Ahmed, who is claiming ownership of Railway land (CTS No 1047, Vasantha Nagar, Opposite Cantonment Railway Station).

Ahmed had approached the courts claiming ownership of the said land. The High Court had then ordered the JDLR to settle the matter but it was not done even after three years. The Railways then accused the JDLR enquiry officer of manipulating land records.

Hence the Divisional Railway Manager (Works), South Western Railway, Bengaluru, filed a complaint with Justice Subhash Adi. In a letter, Justice Adi asked the JDLR to expedite the process and send a reply before February 19. “The disputed property is situated in a prime locality opposite the Cantonment station and is worth more than `30 crore,” he stated.
