Ex-gratia Announced

BENGALURU:Twenty people who were injured in the derailed Bengaluru-Ernakulam Intercity Express were taken to different hospitals in city and the Anekal Government Hospital. “Seven people were brought to the hospital of which two are in a critical condition,” said a doctor at Sparsh Hospital.

“We have announced an ex gratia of Rs 50,000 for those suffering from grievous injuries, Rs 20,000 for minor injuries and Rs 2 lakh for families who lost their loved ones,” said Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu.

The Kerala government announced that all medical expenses will be borne by it. Railways also gave families of the injured Rs 25,000 as medical compensation. “We will be giving Rs 5,000 to the families of those who have died for immediate expenses,” said an official.
