Respite for Seer's Lawyer Accused of Kidnap

BENGALURU: The High Court on Monday gave interim bail to an advocate who is facing charges of kidnap and threatening a woman who has accused Ramachandrapura pontiff Sri Raghaveshwara Bharathi Swami of raping her.

Advocate Arun Shyam is the seer’s counsel  in the rape case filed in 2014 and being investigated by the CID.

Justice L Narayanaswamy granted him interim anticipatory bail till September 10 and asked the government counsel to file objections.

In her complaint filed at Girinagar police station on Saturday, the 25-year-old woman has accused Shyam and two others of forcibly taking her in an Innova car from her father’s residence to Kekkar Mutt near Kumta on September 13, 2012, and making death threats to her and her father if she gives any statement against the seer.

In his petition, Shyam claimed he was being falsely implicated.
