Police have seized Rs 20,50,171 deposited in various banks and ten blank answer scripts have also been seized from the residence of an accused.

BENGALURU:The CCB police on Tuesday arrested one more person in connection with the answer script tampering case in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) here. The arrested has been identified as Gangadhar (45), a second division assistant at HKE Homeopathy College, Kalaburagi.

According to sources, Bhageerath Singh (one of the accused) spilled the beans about Gangadhar, during the interrogation. According to police, Gangadhar was allegedly involved in the tampering of answer scripts of postgraduate students of Al Ameen Medical College.

Police have seized Rs 20,50,171 deposited in various banks. Ten blank answer scripts have also been seized from Bhageerath Singh’s residence. A tailoring machine that was used to insert the covering sheet of the answer script has also been seized.

The CCB cops had earlier arrested four people, including two former and one present employee of the university for selling empty answer scripts to UG and PG students. The arrested were Bhageerath Singh (31), a resident of Matsyalanagar, Bengaluru, Devendra Gowda Patil and Dr Shankargowda, former registrars (evaluation), and Jayamadhe Gowda, senior assistant in evaluation section.

However, a top police official said, “The network has been built up over the years. It is also true that this sort of illegal practice was happening earlier. They have destroyed past evidence. We are conducting the investigation based on the 2014 documents.”

He said Bhageerath Singh  was also running a nursing college in Bengaluru. This college is also under the scanner, the cop added.

Police suspect there are a few more RGUHS officials involved in the case.  In the past, police had found that the empty answer sheets were given to students for Rs 1-2 lakh for UG and Rs 2.5 lakh for PG.
