Artiste Looked up Ways of Suicide Online

She had also looked at the steps to be taken to commit suicide while jumping from a building and also viewed the condition of survivors who attempt suicide by jumping from a building.

BENGALURU: Artiste Isha Handa, who died falling from the 13th floor of an apartment in HSR Layout police limits on Sunday, was in the process of launching a website named Spotlight, police said on Tuesday.

The website was supposed to be a hub for theatre artistes, technicians and persons related to theatre. According to police, she had set up all the things required for the website and in a few days it was to be unveiled. Work on the website began in March.

Based on the browsing history in her records, police said Isha had looked online for ways of committing suicide before she jumped to her death. “She had also looked at the steps to be taken to commit suicide while jumping from a building. She had also viewed the condition of survivors who attempt suicide by jumping from a building,” a police officer said. She conducted these searches on her mobile phone on March 29 and 30.

“Before getting inside the Sobha Apartment complex, she had also scouted for other apartments. But she was not able to enter them. Before committing suicide, she had a few snacks, which she carried with her,” police said. Police found she was drawing more than Rs 80,000 as salary from HSBC but in her latest job at Stay Glad as marketing manager, she was earning less. Police are yet to trace the reason behind her death.

Police also confirmed that no additional information was obtained from CCTV footage from inside the Sobha apartment comple. Police suspect she did not have any friends or family members in the apartment where she committed suicide. Even the time of her entry to the apartment is yet to be known exactly though there were security guards.

Police said the involvement of her boyfriend Anubhav Sahoo is not ruled out. HSR Layout police said a report will be submitted to additional commissioner of police P Harishekaran on Wednesday.
