CM Outsmarts Parameshwara

BENGALURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah appears to have outsmarted KPCC president G Parameshwara in convincing the party high command on the need to forge an alliance with the JD(S) to thwart BJP’s bid for majority in the BBMP.

Parameshwara, who was in the dark about talks on the alliance between Siddaramaiah’s camp followers and JD(S), was asked by party bosses in Delhi to meet former prime minister H D Deve Gowda to formally solemnise the alliance.

Sources said AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh spoke to Parameshwara and asked him to meet the JD(S) patriarch in the interests of the party.

Parameshwara had earlier said he was unaware of the alliance talks with JD(S).

Though he was not totally against the alliance, the KPCC president, accompanied by Bengaluru In-charge Minister Ramalinga Reddy, said he came to meet Gowda after reading reports of JD(S) extending unconditional support to the party.
