BENGALURU: The High Court on Friday quashed the order of a local court directing the Lokayukta police to investigate the disproportionate assets case against BJP leader M P Renukacharya.
Allowing Renukacharya’s petition, Justicee Rathnakala quashed the FIR and further proceedings initiated by the local court based on a private complaint filed by Gurupadappa Matad with Lokayukta police in Davanagere.
However, the judge clarified that fresh proceedings can be initiated against Renukacharya by the local court if the complainant files an affidavit in support of his claims along with his complaint.
The local court ordered Lokayukta investigation after an FIR was registered based on Gurupadappa’s complaint.
Accordingly, Lokayukta police raided the premises of Renukacharya in Bengaluru as well as in Honnali, his native place, recently.
