Man Kills Mother Over Illicit Affair

BENGALURU: A 40-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death by her son at their house in Rajagopalanagar on Thursday night. The accused was upset over her alleged illicit affair. After killing his mother, the accused Shashikumar (21) complained to the police that she was killed by an unknown person.

The deceased is Susheelamma, a native of Tiptur. She had left her husband Siddalingaiah a few years ago and had come to the city. She was living in Rajeshwarinagar in Laggere with her son Shashikumar, who works in an iron factory.

Police said Susheelamma was working in a footwear factory and was friendly with one of her colleagues, Dhananjaya. She allegedly had an affair with him for the past few months. Dhananjaya started living with her at her house. Upset, Shashikumar told his mother to stay away from Dhananjaya and left to stay with a relative.

On Thursday, Shashikumar returned to his house and saw that Dhananjaya had not left. He picked a quarrel with his mother. Dhananjaya left the house and after a while, Shashikumar attacked his mother with a grinding stone.

Shashikumar then locked the body in a room and approached the police saying that his mother had been murdered by unknown people. The police, however, were suspicious and grilled him. Shashikumar later confessed to the crime.
