BENGALURU: Vyalikaval police on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man for allegedly extorting money by posing as a policeman.

The accused is Suresh, a cab driver by profession and a native of Nelamangala. He was staying at a PG accommodation in Palace Guttahalli.

Police said he had quit his job recently and started extorting money from people and footpath vendors by claiming that he was a policeman. He had stuck labels of ‘police’ on his helmet and bike and used to threaten people that he would file a petty case against them.
