Tribute to Ilaiyaraja at Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava

BENGALURU: The 53rd Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava 2015, to be held from September 17 to 27, was announced at a press conference recently. It was attended by renowned playback singer and film composer Vijay Prakash, music composer Arjun Janya, singer and actor M D Pallavi, artistic director of Nritarutya Mayuri Upadhya, singer-songwriter and film composer Raghu Dixit, all of whom will participate in the festival. Curated by Shree Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha, the festival aims to bring together the finest artists of the country to celebrate art and culture.

Few of the highlights of this year include the singers Susheela, Vani Jairam and Vijay Prakash. A special musical tribute will be given to Ilaiyairaja by Rajesh Krishnan, M D Pallavi, Ajay Warriar, Supriya Raghunandan, Composer Praveen D Rao with Arun Kumar on the drums.

Speaking at the Press Conference, Nandish SM, Managing Trustee, Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava said, “With the new season of Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava, our aim is to broaden our horizon in sync with the younger generation and cater to a larger audience. The fifty years saga has been an incredible journey and a well-planned transition, passing it over to next generation without losing the country’s essence and culture. We wish to flourish and continue our celebration of art, expression, creativity and culture in the coming years.”

Apart from popular artistes on each day, there will also be local renowned artists performing every evening before the main event during the 11-day festival.
