Two Dead as Lorry Rams Into Bike

BENGALURU: Two people, including a student, died on the spot in a road accident near the Shell Petrol bunk on Magadi Road in Tavarekere police station limits on Wednesday.

According to police, the deceased are Guruprasad and Darshan, residents of Kamala Nagar in Peenya. Guruprasad had completed his graduation and was looking for a job while Darshan was a Class 8 student.

At 3.45 pm, they were on the way to Tavarekere on a two-wheeler when a speeding lorry rammed into them from the rear. Both of them came under the wheels. The lorry driver fled from the spot. Tavarekere police have registered a case.

Gang Robs Student

A student was robbed by a gang of bike-borne youths near Rajajinagar in the wee hours of Wednesday.

Police said, Sandeep stated that he was travelling from Malleshwaram towards Vijayanagar on a two-wheeler at 3.30 am. When he reached Variar Bakery on West of Chord Road, the gang in four two-wheelers started to follow him. “I slowed down at a red signal and heard these people swearing at me. Later, I took the service road in front of ASC Centre and College instead of the underpass to avoid them,” the complaint stated.

However, the two-wheelers surrounded him and the youths hit him. “They also stole my phone, wallet and bike keys. There were around seven to eight youths. One of them had a black Pulsar with modified green lights on the number plate and a Honda Dio.” he stated.
