BENGALURU:A 19-year-old engineering student was killed on the spot and seven others were injured after their car fell into the canal of Chunchi Falls in Kanakapura on Sunday.
The deceased has been identified as Sagar, a resident of Bommasandra. He was studying at a private college in Rajanukunte.
The police said that eight students including three girls had come to Chunchi Falls for an outing and after having lunch they were returning to Bengaluru. Sagar, who was driving the car, lost control while driving uphill. The car fell into the canal and Sagar died on the spot. The locals who noticed the incident alerted the police who rushed to the spot and rescued the injured, who were taken to a private hospital. The SUV was hired from Zoom car, a private travel agency. Sathanur police are investigating to find the actual cause of the accident.
