Chain Snatchers Strike Again, Rob Four Women

BENGALURU: Chain snatchers struck at four places in Bengaluru on Wednesday.

In the first incident, two bike-borne men snatched a gold chain weighing 40 grams  from Sujatha, 35, a resident of Hunsamaranahalli. Sujatha had come to her relative’s house near Kodandaramaswamy temple in Vyalikaval. The incident took place at around 9.30 am while she was standing in front of the house.

In the second incident, Sharavathi, 55, a resident of Sai Nagar in Vidyaranyapura was standing near the gate of her residence when two men on a bike snatched away her gold chain weighing 50 grams.

In the third incident, miscreants made away with a gold chain weighing 65 grams from Taradevi, 70, at Balaji Layout. The victim was walking to her relative’s house when the incident took place.

In the fourth incident, Rajani, a resident of Ramaswamypalya in Banaswadi, was on her way to pick up her children from school when two men on a bike snatched her gold chain weighing 35 grams. Cases have been registered at respective police stations.

Labourer Dies in Mishap

A 29-year-old labourer died after he was rammed by a speeding car on Wednesday night.

The deceased, B Ramu, was a native of Andhra Pradesh and a resident of K R Puram. He was working on contract basis for Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB).

According to the police, the incident occured in the midnight when Ramu, along with a few others, was carrying out repair work of old manholes on Richmond Road. The car driver, Rizwan Pasha (23), who was on his way back home in Gouripalya, overtook another car on Richmond Road and rammed into the barricades. Ramu, who was working behind it, was crushed.

He was immediately shifted to NIMHANS, where he was declared brought dead, added the police.

A case has been registered with the Ashok Nagar police.
