BENGALURU:Firemen rescued eight people, including two children, who were stuck in a lift for two hours at St Mark’s Cathedral near Anil Kumble Circle in Cubbon Park police limits on Saturday night.

According to the Fire and Emergency personnel, around 9.30 pm, they got a call stating that eight people were stuck in a lift on the church premises. They rushed to the spot and found that the lift was stuck between the ground  and first floors.

The people were stuck for more than two hours in the lift which was jammed due to a technical problem. A mechanic, summoned to fix the problem, helped the fire personnel in bringing the lift down.

“We had to break a part of the wall on the first floor to get the people out safely,” said a fire officer.
