2 transgenders held for assaulting lorry driver

Byatarayanpura police on Wednesday arrested two transgenders on charges of assaulting and robbing a 40-year-old lorry driver near Nayandanahalli junction.

BENGALURU: Byatarayanpura police on Wednesday arrested two transgenders on charges of assaulting and robbing a 40-year-old lorry driver near Nayandanahalli junction.
The trucker Swamy, hailing from Mandya, sustained grievious head injuries. The arrested are Lavanya (35) and Kavya (35), residents of Nayandanahalli.

According to police, at 11.40pm on Tuesday, Swamy, after unloading goods from his vehicle, went to the Sulabh toilet near Nayandanahalli junction where he found two transgenders. He approached them seeking sexual favours and agreed to pay `300 to one.
Later, Swami tried to flee without paying, leading to a fight with Kavya and Lavanya. In the melee, one of the transgenders hit Swamy on the head with a cricket bat and fled. Passersby rushed Swamy to a hospital where he received six stitches. Police nabbed the transgenders.
