BENGALURU: Several families living in Imperial Orchid, the apartment complex adjacent to the collapsed building, have temporarily moved out of their homes unable to bear the mental trauma. Residents said it was not just the noise and the dust of the earth movers mowing the rubble but the whole experience that was traumatic.
Nandan K V, one of the residents, told Express that every time the earth mover was clearing the rubble, they could feel the vibration in their building. “This is a scary experience. My grandmother, who had come to stay with us, had to be sent back to her house last night,” he said.

According to the residents, several families have temporarily moved out. While some have gone to their relatives’ houses, some of them have taken off for the week and have decided to come back after the Dasara festival.
‘Haven’t yet seen my husband’.

While some people are moving out of their houses, for some of the workers, the under-construction building, which was their home, has been torn apart. “My son and I slept in a neighbouring shed last night. The police officials at the venue gave us dinner,” said Ningamma, wife of Nagaraj, who is admitted in a private hospital following the accident.

Nagaraj is being treated for a broken finger. However, the couple has not spoken to each other since the incident. “They said no one is allowed inside. I haven’t seen him since yesterday,” Ningamma lamented. The couple’s eight-year-old son escaped unhurt.
