The Bengaluru police have busted a gang of nine who used women to lure men into intimate moments, record them and rob or blackmail the victims.

BENGALURU: The Bengaluru police have busted a gang of nine who used women to lure men into intimate moments, record them and rob or blackmail the victims.

The police are calling it the honeytrap gang. They are all young, aged between 19 and 28, and residents of Bengaluru. Polcie gave their names as Sivanand, Dileep, Sharathkumar, Guruprasad, Vikas, Vinod, Rathan and Raviraj and Jyothi. They all have previous crime records.

Police said the gang have confessed.

The gang's modus operandi came to light when the Byatarayanapura police detained them in a dacoity case. During interrogation, they spilled the beans on how they went about it.

Posing as pimps, the gang used to send a woman accomplice to a potential victim's house. The woman used to make videos of the intimate moments with a hidden camera. At the same time, she would map the house and try to find out where valuables are kept.

Armed with this knowledge, the gang would break into the house and steal the valuables.

They would also threaten to make the video public if the victims approached the police. The gang members have told the police that they carried out robberies in JP Nagar, Varthur and Sunkadakatte in Bengaluru.
