Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, along with area MLAs of North Bengaluru, met railway officials on Saturday.

BENGALURU: Union Minister D V Sadananda Gowda, along with area MLAs of North Bengaluru, met railway officials on Saturday at the divisional railway manager’s office to discuss pending infrastructure projects in his constituency that need to be completed on priority basis.

There are about 28-29 railways projects, mostly comprising construction of ROBs, underpasses and flyovers that need to be expedited and require funding.

Addressing the meeting, Gowda said, “There are 5-6 crucial places where construction work is going on. In areas like Hebbal, Dasarahalli and Malleswaram, the work needs to be done immediately as there is heavy traffic movement in these areas. If required, we will create special funds for these plans.”

He added, “Keeping Swachh Bharath mission in mind, we need to clear garbage from many railway properties. Both BBMP and railways need to work towards it. Also, there are many roads near railway tracks, which are in pathetic condition and need asphalting.

He said that the local MLAs have taken keen interest to take up cleaning of garbage if railways permit. Issues pertaining to railway land encroachment and the need to acquire them back was also pointed out. The bottleneck at KR Puram was also discussed.

Within a week, Minister Sadananda Gowda will inform the CM and the Railway minister about the decision taken in the meeting.  They also proposed to form a coordination committee with local MP, MLA, BBMP and railways so that all the works can be carried out smoothly.

The meeting was attended by Agriculture minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Yelahanka MLA Vishwanath, KR Puram MLA Nandish Reddy, Dasarahalli MLA Muniraju and BBMP commissioner Manjunath Prasad.
