BENGALURU: Around 200 students from different colleges  will give a facelift to Kempegowda Bus Station (Majestic). Led by a non-profit organisation Lets Be The Change, the team will paint over the stained and broken compound wall around the BMTC bus station on October 2, Gandhi Jayanthi. They have received permission from Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation.
The team will paint slogans on keeping the surroundings clean and segregating waste. Anirudh S Dutt, founder of Lets Be The Change and a student of Jyothy Institute of Technology, says, “Majestic Bus Station is one of the largest transportation hubs. People from different regions and states pass through here and the current state of the bus stand is pathetic. So, we decided to make it look better with paintings on typical scenes from Bengaluru.” Volunteers, from Daan Utsav and Jyothy Institute of Technology, will paint the walls at the entrance and the platforms.
The NGO is also inviting city artists to participate in the awareness campaign. The event that will start at 6. 30 pm will be led by two teams – one for painting and the other to spread a civic awareness.
For the painting, eight spots have been identified and each will be worked on by a leader who will be supported by five volunteers. To chat with the general public on civic responsibility, there will be 15 to 20 groups, each  with four to five volunteers.
Lets be the Change is also hoping to raise funds for the event through crowdfunding. To volunteer, show up at the bus stand on October 2 at  7 AM. For more details contact 80959 03171 or log on to their Facebook page.
