BENGALURU: MICO Layout police on Saturday arrested a head constable on charges of being part of a gang which had been running a sex racket in the city. The police had arrested four men recently, and during interrogation, they revealed the name of Karibasaiah who works in Parappana Agrahara police station.

On April 17, Mico Layout police raided a luxury villa in BTM Layout and busted a sex racket. Four persons— Usman, Naresh Singh, Farvaze Khan and Sharavana —were arrested, while three budding models from Mumbai were rescued.

During investigation, police found that Karibasaiah supported the racket by helping prime accused Usman rent the bungalow, and his bank account was directly connected to the swiping machine used to receive payment. A senior police officer said Karibasaiah was involved with the gang in running the sex racket for the past three years. Earlier, when he was working at Madiwala police station, he assured the gang that he would handle any police officer who tried to take action.

He also went with Usman to hire the bungalow and convinced the owner that it will be a guest house for officials of a corporate firm. “We also found from his phone call records that he was in regular contact with the gang and also found messages of received transactions. We have also frozen his bank account. He has been booked under the Immoral Traffic (prevention) Act and sent to judicial custody,” the officer said.
