Bangalore University transfers 51 students from Akash business management college

The college in Mallathalli was found to have admitted ineligible students to various degree courses by forging the marks cards in the name of national open schooling.

BENGALURU: Bangalore University has decided to transfer 51 students who were admitted at Akash International Business Management College to three neighbouring colleges.

The college in Mallathalli was found to have admitted ineligible students to various degree courses by forging the marks cards in the name of national open schooling. The college was booked a few weeks ago for allegedly cheating students by assuring them degree certificates. The students were ineligible for undergraduate courses as they had not passed PU II exams.

The issue came to light when first year undergraduate students protested after their results were withheld.

When the students approached Bangalore University (BU), the authorities said that the college had submitted fake documents. BU then filed a police complaint. Jnana Bharati police then arrested three people, the head of the institute, the trustee and a management member.

There were some 150 students who got admissions at the college. After verifying the documents, the university authorities found 51 students to be genuine.

“We had a meeting with the managements of three colleges — PVP First Grade College Mallathahalli, NRI Institute Papareddypalya and KLE Society Degree College, Nagarabhavi, and they have agreed to provide admissions,” said Prof K N Ninge Gowda, Registrar, administration, BU. The issue was placed before a special syndicate meeting on Monday. The syndicate then passed a resolution to transfer 51 students who got admission to 2nd, 4th and 6th semesters to other colleges.

The colleges have to admit these students to the same course combination for which they were admitted and their intake should not exceed.
