BENGALURU: A 26-year-old Kolkata-based woman has filed a case alleging gang-rape by four men in Koramangala police station. Though the complaint was filed two weeks ago, the incident came to light only on Tuesday. The police are on the lookout for the culprits.

A senior police officer said that the complainant had come to the city in search of a job and had met one Rakesh, who had promised to help her find employment. According to the complaint, she was raped in a moving car by Rakesh and three of his friends.

The woman filed a police complaint on April 11 against Rakesh, Rajappa and Narasimaiah. She did not know the name of the fourth one.

However, according to police sources, after filing the case, the complainant did not cooperate with the investigation. Police even approached her friends to convince her to cooperate but she refused to undergo a medical test. She also refused to give her contact number to the police. As a result, the police are unable to verify the call details, which could have helped them track the culprits. In fact, the victim has already left for Kolkata.

Also, her police statement lacked clarity. She initially said that she was raped on March 26 but later changed the date to March 30 and then to April 11, the officer added.

He said that they have obtained CCTV footage to identify the culprits. The woman’s friends told the police that she recently got a divorce. Police officials managed to get in touch with the victim’s family in Kolkata with her friends’ help.
