Suspension of BBMP engineer Nagaraja stayed

The High Court on Thursday stayed the order suspending K T Nagaraja as Chief Engineer (Central Projects), Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

BENGALURU: The High Court on Thursday stayed the order suspending K T Nagaraja as Chief Engineer (Central Projects), Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

Hearing the petition filed by Nagaraja, Justice G Narendar passed an interim order staying the suspension order, dated March 31, 2017, for eight weeks.

The state government had suspended Nagaraja after the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) registered a case against him, under the provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, after they found disproportionate assets during a raid.

The counsel of Nagaraja contended that the government did not apply it’s mind before passing the suspension order. The ACB has included Nagaraja’s wife’s income into account while assessing the disproportionate assets and the same is illegal, the counsel argued.

The court had recently stayed the FIR registered against Nagaraja, after hearing his petition challenging the case registered against him by the ACB.
