6 held for assaulting 2 cops

BENGALURU: As many as six men were arrested for assaulting two police constables in two separate incidents.Viveknagar police arrested a gang of four men for allegedly slapping a constable who questioned them while they were consuming alcohol on a roadside in Viveknagar late on Saturday night.

Friends and relatives of the men had just started protesting outside the police station, claiming that the men were taken into custody for no particular reason. This is when the policemen produced the men before the crowd. Sources said the men were drunk and were not even in a position to stand. The arrested are Kumar, Shivu, Jagan and Muni, all residents of Ejipura.

In the second incident, Mahalakshmi police arrested two men on charges of assaulting a traffic police constable at Laggere. The policeman was conducting a check on drunk driving. At 11.30pm, constable Ajay Kumar attached to Rajajinagar traffic police station stopped a bike at Kempegowda Arch and arrested Abhilash and his friend Abhishek, who was riding pillion.
