BENGALURU: WITH work on the Metro Phase-II on Old Madras Road contributing to piling up of traffic along this stretch, the Railways will introduce a Diesel Electric Multiple Unit trains exclusively between Baiyappanahalli and Whitefield to cater to the IT crowd from Friday.
“We will run a DEMU mainly to cater to the IT crowd during the morning hour from Baiyappanahalli towards Whitefield and back to Whitefield during the peak evening hour, beginning from August 18. The exact timings are still being finalised,” said E Vijaya, Chief Public Relations Officer, South Western Railway.
The Bengaluru Division already runs 12 passenger trains along this direction, but it is the first time the train will run only to connect these two points. “The decision has been taken due to the ongoing Metro work and the traffic jams during peak timings,” she added.
